M-Station West is currently under construction and is the second phase of a two-phase project in Morristown, NJ. The scope includes a 7 story, 253,000-SF Class-A office and retail building, and a parking garage extension that adds 491 spaces to the existing garage Barr & Barr constructed during the first phase. Barr & Barr is working for a repeat client, SJP Properties, who is the developer and owner. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete at the end of 2024.
The project team achieved one of many milestones this week by landing the first of two large mechanical penthouse units on the roof of the building. The mechanical penthouse unit consists of 5 sections with the heaviest section weighing 50,000 lbs. Due to the weight of the sections, the challenging logistics on the site and height/long reach to rig the sections into place, a 770-ton hydraulic crane was needed for the installation. The work was completed smoothly as planned. The second installation is scheduled for the end of March, achieving another major milestone on the project.
Congratulations to the Barr & Barr team, SJP Properties, Benmar Mechanical and Vergona Crane and all the dedicated workers for a safe and successful installation!
