We are thrilled to be the construction manager of choice for the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center Emergency Department Expansion & Renovation Project. Tom LePage, Barr & Barr’s Chief Operating Officer started his career with Barr and Barr working on our first project at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in 1992. Since then, we have completed four modernization programs for JHMC. This will be Barr & Barr’s fifth major modernization program, in 30 years, for Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
This latest program consists of a new 48,500 SF addition to the ED and 36,250 SF renovations of the existing ED. This project is important because Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is one of three Level 1 Trauma Units in Queens. More significantly they are one of only twenty-one Level 1 Trauma Centers in the entire state of NY. The groundbreaking ceremony was a huge success and all who attended were very grateful that Governor Hockel was able to participate.
We would also like to acknowledge that this is not only our fifth modernization project for JHMC but the fifth modernization project for this project team, JHMC-Owner, RBS&D-Architect & Engineer, and Barr & Barr-Construction Manager. This is a testament to what a successful team can achieve with a collaborative, transparent, open, and honest approach throughout the entire construction process. We are grateful for the longstanding relationship we have built with Jamaica Hospital.
