Yale University, Kahn Art Gallery Renovation & Modernization - New Haven, CT
This major renovation and modernization of Louis I. Kahn’s 1953 masterpiece restored the architect’s original intent while creating a more versatile exhibition space. Extensive design and performance testing ensured the viability of the new, more efficient curtain wall system that replicated the failing original. A new passenger elevator was installed and power, tele-data, AV and HVAC systems were updated. Museum-standard environmental controls were achieved with new, integrated mechanical and electrical systems. Interior finishes required restorations to endblock wood and terrazzo floors.
