ISO New England — Backup Control Center, Windsor, CT
The two-story facility houses ISO-NE’s backup control room and data center. The control room is located within the center of the building and features a two-story video wall and the adjacent data center contains ISO-NE’s unique redundancy requirements. Other significant features include flexible office and conferencing spaces, entrance guard shack complete with secure perimeter fencing and helicopter pad.

PROJECT DETAILS
Building Informational Modeling was used for 3D MEP/FP Coordination and Clash Detection, 3D Logistics/Construction Schedule Look-Aheads, 4D Construction Sequencing and 5D Quantity Extraction.
The building structure was planned and designed to allow for future expansion and is structurally sound to house a roof-top microwave tower of up to 60 feet.
The building is located at the center of the site to provide a spatial buffer between adjacent roadways and properties. This area is secured with a perimeter fence and a guard shack with controlled entrance gates.
The property includes 190 parking spaces within secured areas with a helicopter pad on the property just outside the perimeter fence to allow for the potential to share with municipality functions.
A high standard of sustainability includes natural lighting, automatic lighting controls, energy efficient HVAC system including heat-recovery system and low flow plumbing fixtures. LEED Gold certification.
