The CIL provides a venue for pioneering genetic research. Construction included four modular research laboratories designed in a “loft” configuration to easily adapt with changes in research and technology over time. Additional spaces built were; an animal facility, conference rooms, auditoriums and a structural glazed curtain wall atrium that is screened by 31 operable 40’ high aluminum louvers. The atrium features a cafe, seating areas, a lecture theatre and a Frank Gehry sculpture/meeting room.
