Phase I of the Hamilton College Kirner Johnson Building issued a Certificate of Occupancy |
10 August, 2008 - Barr & Barr was recently issued a Certificate of Occupancy for Phase I of the Hamilton College Kirner Johnson Building Additions and Renovations. Located in Clinton, NY, Hamilton College is a liberal arts college with an emphasis on individualized instruction and independent research.
The multiphase project consists of extensive upgrades that include a new 48,000 square foot structural steel frame addition and the complete renovation of the existing 49,000 square foot concrete structure. This project marks the first new construction on Hamilton’s Kirkland Campus in more than 20 years.
Built on a confined site, the new addition houses 41 new faculty offices, four smaller 20 person class rooms and five seminar/conference rooms. The common area maximizes the use of natural light with the inclusion of a 4,000 square foot curtain wall, a clerestory and sloped glazing members.
Upon completion of the new addition, the original building will be guttered back to structure. Minor modifications will allow for the installation of a second glass enclosed elevator and renovations to the exiting 125 seat lecture hall and historic “red pit” lecture hall. Four new flat classrooms and new department teaching centers for Sociology, History, Economic, Anthropology and Government studies will also be constructed resulting in an additional 36 offices.
Congratulations to the project team; they have exemplified what a project managed by Barr & Barr represents to the owner and community.
