The Clark Art Institute issued a Certificate of Occupancy |
14 February, 2008 - Barr & Barr was recently issued a Certificate of Occupancy for the Clark Art & Conservation Center at Stone Hill. Located in Williamstown, MA, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute is an art museum and a center for research and higher education, dedicated to advancing and extending the public understanding of art. The Clark’s mission and its geographical location define three essential, interrelated aspects of its character and identity: the quality of its art, the beauty of its pastoral setting, and the depth of its commitment to the generation of ideas.
The new Gallery and Conservation Center includes work space for the Williamstown Art Conservation Center which required new art restoration labs, offices, and storage space. The Williamstown Art Conservation Center (WACC) is a renowned art conservation and restoration service which serves major cultural institutions as well as private collectors. Their newly built space includes high-end mechanical systems for temperature and humidity control, as well as systems for pollutant control. The Clark Art Institute will use the new building to house new gallery spaces for temporary or loaned shows, an art education studio/classroom, a woodshop, and art storage. In addition, there are exterior terraces, porches, and an outdoor cafe.
Congratulations to the project team; they have exemplified what a project managed by Barr & Barr represents to the owner and community.
