Barr & Barr was founded in 1927 by Joseph R. Barr. Originally known as Barr & Lane, Inc, the firm quickly developed a reputation for working with some of the most prestigious owners in New York City. In 1932, Joseph's personal commitment to each project was recognized by Nelson Rockefeller Sr. and Barr, Irons & Lane was hired to build the Time Life Building and the Rockefeller Center’s Promenade, Garden, Center Theatre and the British and French Buildings. New clients soon followed and we’ve never looked back.

Through the years, our core values have remained constant—honesty in decision-making, personal responsibility and accountability, and leadership by example. These principles are at the heart of our ability to create and respond to market opportunities and have fueled our expansion. Today, Barr & Barr employs more than 300 construction professionals and has expanded to eight offices throughout the Northeast. Now in our third generation of leadership, Barr & Barr continues to evolve and serves a vast array of clients and markets, a true testament to the employee-owned firm's commitment to our sustainability and longevity.
